the BMW paint code is typically printed on a label that is on the strut towers. Open your hood, and look around the strut towers. there is a sticker that has the paint name in german, and a 3 digit paint code. Most auto paint places can blend paint based on that 3 digit code. However, keep in mind that certain colors come in different shades from the factory, so it will require color matching. In particular, yellow or light red colors come in different shades and may require custom color matching. if you have a darker color, or black, then it should be easy to get your color with just the color code.

That information from the other gentleman about the paint label is correct. However, you might consider taking the car to a body shop or paint supplier for color-matching anyway. If you buy paint based on the code, you will be getting brand-new paint, and obviously, your car is no longer brand-new. Depending on the color and the climate where you live, some degree of fading has taken place. For a perfect match, have someone with experience mix something up for you.
