His is one of the richest men in the world. He helped found and run this little itty bitty company called MicroSoft, which went on to become a huge corporation and control 95% of the PC operating systems software in the world.
He is also a college dropout. Think about that.....

Wow, kids nowadays. Just kidding. Bill Gates, along with a couple other guys, created the first DOS or disk operating system for computers. The company he founded is Microsoft. Odds are the computer you used to type this question is running some Microsoft OS [Operating System]. If not, you're probably using an Apple product. Apple Computers was founded by Wozniak and a couple different guys. They didn't apparently have the marketing steamroller ability that Microsoft did, so a few years ago, Bill Gates and Micorosft had to give Apple a quarter of a billion dollars to help keep things going at Apple. So, it's pretty much all microsoft now. Let's hope Linux has more strength than Apple did.

Bill Gates is very rich becuase his parents were. He started Microsoft. He used to be the president of Microsoft but now works there part-time because he wants more time to work in the "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" where he and his wife give money to help others. He and Melinda, along with Bono, were Time's people of the year last year.
