Not hit, just very very very close...Almost too close for comfort; 16 million miles. When talking about Space measuremet, that is too close. We may have to think of Lunar colonization if it is that close.

On January 31st, 2012; the asteroid 433 Eros; the second biggest Near Earth Object will come very close.

by some potential the international is gonna end on December twenty first 2012. there's a lotta situations however the advantageous ingredient is that the international is finished, performed, ended on December twenty first 2012. There ain't no combating it or saving it the international is gonna end on December twenty first 2012. Planet Nibiru ain't have been given a ingredient to do with it. So do no longer trouble approximately Planet Nibiru. I used to think of the Earth became into gonna come aside on the seams. Tear itself aside alongside the tectonic fault traces like a sheet of perforated postage stamps. that could desire to nonetheless take place. yet i think of the oil leak in the Gulf Of Mexico is gonna play a important place in the tip of the international by utilising December twenty first 2012.

Absolute idiocy.

Firstly there is nothing that will come close in 2012, and secondly there is nothing in near-earth orbit anywhere near the size of Africa.

Nothing has approached the earth of greater than 10 or 20 kms across in the last 4 billion years, so why would one come now.

It is estimated that it only needs an asteroid 1km across to cause enough damage to bring down civilisation. 10km wide would probably exterminate us. That's all it needs.

Most of the "rocks" detected by Spacewatch are from 10 metres across to a few kms. Most are between the size of a house and a city block.

"Size of Africa" - what a joke. The largest asteroid in the Asteroid belt (nowhere near Earth and never will be) is about the size of Africa. Most are rocks - just that.

Why don't you kids read some real science rather than all this pseudo science you seem to get hold of.

Or just stick to captain marvel comics

Given that the Earth goes around the sun once every year, there is no "behind" the sun, is there?

There is no giant rock, the size of Africa, that will be hitting Earth in 2012.

Nope. We are safe for now. The world will not becoming to an end anytime soon. Although my careful calculations show that the sun will explode about 6:37 AM Saturday 24, est in the year 2,000,000,007, give or take a couple of nano seconds.

I could be off a bit!

No, but there is one that will come within 0.1790 astronomical units of Earth. The asteroid is called 433 Eros. It's a Greek name.

Are the "end of the word"ers busy or what?

Look, the closest the world MIGHT end is when an asteroid is due to hit the planet around 2036.

False.

With Iran building nuclear weapons, and north Korea already
in posession of them there will probably not be an Earth in
the year 2012...at least one inhabited by mankind.
