The procedure by which, and through threat of imprisonment, the United States government forced this writer into the armed forces in 1970. I wonder how many American men would still be alive if someone had told them that all they had to do was hold out for a few years and they would be pardoned for their refusal to participate?

I vow by all I hold sacred that I will do everything in my power to keep it from happening to any American, ever again!
