i've only used ebay once, personally i would only use it for smaller priced items that way you haven't lost alot of money if something does happen. i think your best option would be to buy one from a shop, then you know what your getting and that you are getting it. i trust ebay to an extent, there are just alot of dishonest people out there.

I have purchased at least 30 items off of ebay over the last couple of years and have NEVER had a problem with a seller. Now, that is not to say there are shady folks on ebay, but for the most part, it is a legitimate way to buy reasonably priced items.

If you're buying a PC off ebay, they will probably format the hard drive. If they don't I would recommend doing it yourself and reinstalling Windows. Most people who scam on ebay aren't going to scam you by selling you a computer with a virus, spyware, or hacking program on it. Anyone with that much dedication/smarts to hacking would have an easier way than selling you a computer :)

When you buy off of eBay it really doesn't have anything to do with eBay. It is the person that you are buying from. I have bought and sold many things on eBay. You can look at a persons feedback to see if they are reputable or not. Just click on the percentage to the right of their name.

It not just eBay...

It the seller that sell their item, eBay make it a ground zone for seller to advertises their item.

I agree. Not every Microsoft Office are legit unless they have a COA sticker.

Personally, I would read what they are selling and make sure that item represent their description accurately.
