bowls are for cereal and fruit, the only type of fish that should be in a bowl is a tuna salad. bowls are banned in most european countries. fish that are small enough for a bowl need heater (ex betta) and fish that don't need heaters get too big for bowls.
take back the bowl and get a 20gallon tank, a good filter, a few silk plants and thermometer.
then be prepared to wait a month or so before getting a fish. you need to cycle the tank first. see the site bellow for more info on cycling:
http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/FishlessCycle.html
after you tank is successfully cycled you can buy ONE goldfish. if you want more than one you must upgrade you tank, 10 more gallons in addition to the 20 for the first goldie for every new goldie you want to add. so for 3 goldfish you need a 40gallon tank. any fancy goldfish, however, do not mix special eye goldfish with not special eye goldfish. see the link bellow for some types, you can pick the one you like best.
http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/ftypes.html
get quality fish food, which doesn't mean the most expensive, but usually isn't the cheapest either, look that the guaranteed contents.
after this is just basic upkeep. do 20% water changes once a week, I find it's easiest if you just suck 20% of the water out with a turkey baster so you can get it from the bottom where all the waste is then replace it with clean conditioned water.
for more info, see the site bellow, on the menu there are many other section of the page that have very good information.

I recommend you get water conditioner to remove the harmful substances in tap water. I really think it is up to you to determine the type of fish you want, so I am providing you with a website that has different goldfish species. Remember that size of the fish matters in the relationship with the tank or bowl matters (1 or 2.5 in. per gallon), or your fish will be stressed and can lead to diseases for your fish.

a million.a 10 gallon tank is suited for bettas - properly that is superb for a betta! impressive! 2.Bettas dont prefer that a lot water to outlive- real, they might survive in a small quantity of water, yet purely surviving and THRIVING are 2 diverse concerns all at the same time. 3.A 50 gallon tank is suited for a goldfish- A 50 gallon tank is impressive for a goldfish. the guideline of thumb for goldfish is 10 gallons each and each for the flamboyant (short bodied) style and 20 gallons for commons, comets and shubunkins. i've got faith they prefer a lot extra advantageous than that, yet it particularly is in basic terms a well-known rule of thumb for the conventional goldfish keeper. I save in basic terms 3 GOLDFISH IN A fifty 5 GALLON TANK. and that i've got faith it particularly is the way it may well be. 4 interior the wild bettas stay in our bodies of water that are very small (almost the size or larger that a puddle)- not real...they stay in shallow our bodies of water that are very great. (bitterjane i like your posts. I prefer human beings might get it approximately goldfish additionally. it particularly is why I sell my sought after goldfish website. I in simple terms desire it gets with the aid of to 3 human beings.)

You got my answer about bowls in your second question. Here is a link to the best site on the web for information about goldfish. Make sure you read every section and every article and make sure you understand it before buying any fish. Also, I should think we all have heard about the quality of Wal_Mart fish. If you can't go to a reputable local fish store that specializes only in fish and which has knowledgeable employees, then please choose to, at least, go to Petco or PetSmart instead. Good luck!

You need ten gallons of filtered water for each 3 inches of goldfish. They won't live in a bowl because they produce too much ammonia and the water gets toxic.

I would not recommend a bowl. But here is what I would do. If you do have a bowl add clean water to it. You can buy cheap filters(not electronic) just stick to the bowl wall and fish movement moves water and the filter cleans it. About species, any is fine. Get one male and female(make sure they are young and do not have ick, fungus and etc.) If you are not sure about fish disease. Look for medicines and on the back of the box they describe what condition it is for and use that as a reference. For pumps, I do no think one for a fish bowl would be logical. But if you want oxygen get a real plant. Also get a small ornament for it to hide in and small gravel bag(choice of color) I think this should be enough. Hope this helps.
