it should not be a particular age but rather a particular level of intelligence and maturity. By natural law the age is that of puberty. The US and most americans have fallen victim to morality , sex is more feared now than ever. Sex however is not bad and if done consensually is not harmful - the only harm comes from societies response to it. IF pregancy is an issue how about an exclusion for contraceptives? that would solve that. The age of consent if there is to be one should be significantly lower. The average teen is mature enough to make their own decisions regarding sex. I can not understand why america believes that the intelligent should be oppressed to protect the stupid. However i doubt the likelihood that this is truly to protect more than it is to exercise control over a silent powerless minorty.

At least Ice Age.
Since then, mankind do not stop growing, and growing, and growing. There is a lot of sexual consent in all of this.
In a Darwinian approach, let's consent to see what happens in a hundred generations, or more.
In a Creationist approach, let's consent because God never said a word again everyone first time, right now - since Adam and Eve, of course !

I think the age of consent should be 18...that is when you are considered an adult and able to make decisions for yourself.

It should be the same for all.

There are already laws in place that protect underaged children from sexual activity by older people.

As the father of a teenage daughter, 35! And no, this can definitely be handled by state governments.

The age of sexual consent tends to vary from state to state. How 'bout each state make it 16 across the board? I don't think the Fed. govt. has any place interfering here.

What ever the state Law dictates. At LEAST 18. Why would anyone want to be involved with anyone who is not emotionally mature anyway?

You should have to wait until your at least 50 to have sex. Not because of any morality or social issues. Just because if I had waited to have sex I would have been a millionaire.
