Well, there's this person at my college whom I would have sworn was a girl (I thought so for several months). Today, I go to the bathroom and I see this person using the urinal and I feel REALLY awkward. Is it normal to mistake someone of one sex for another?

Sometimes you just can't tell. I once met a person named Jody whom to this day I could not say if that person was male or female (that's horrible grammar, but you get my point.)

It's not uncommon. It may also be that the person is actually a female in a male body. This happens from time to time, and the syndrome is lumped under the label 'homosexual', but is something different.

Edit: 14 was supposed to be 24 (thanks for pointing that out), i guess i should use spell check, as you also pointed out (jn a rude manner) that i spelled educational wrong. Im 225 pounds, and i am experienced in boxing, also know a bit about submissions too. You would probably be easy, but i would like to discontinue this stupid fight over the internet.

Not usually, but it does happen on occasion. I believe it happens to all of us at one time or another. Don't lose any sleep over it. Just be glad that you found out before you asked this person out on a date! (if that's what you had in mind)

No it is not unusual. Androgyny is when a person has both male and female characteristics. They may not have enough of one to make them seem as if they fit into the categories male or female.

This happened to me when I was 12 years old. I thought a girl was a guy. She ended up being my sister-in-law later.
