This could be one of several things. First get some lamasil cream and apply to infected area overtime it should go away. The cause of this missing hair is a fungul infection. If that does not work then it could be stress. That is what it was for me. I changed jobs because the boss was stressing me out and it grew back. This is due to a hormonal imbalance.

Maybe it is a pimple? I say, go to the dermatologist.
Or just shave the whole beard off and then see what happens??
Do not worry, it doesn't sound too serious
Good luck =]

Your brother needs to go see a DERMATOLOGIST-Skin and Hair Doctor(MD) or no on on the WEB/Answers has the expertise to know exactly what it is and how to treat esp if he's very worried about it.

hair does'nt always grow where we want it. It may not be any problem at all. If he's so worried about it, why isn't he going to see a doctor?

Probably normal for him. I don't have any hair that grows on the cleft of my chin, no biggie, that's just the way God intended it.
