I have had the same problem on Honda's also. Heating it will help if you don't have a 3/4 impact. Bumping the starter will not help because the engine turns counter clockwise.
Vehicle: 1979 - 1983 Honda Accord 1.6L
1979 - 1985 Honda Accord 1.8L
1986 - 1989 Honda Accord 2.0L
1990 - 1997 Honda Accord 2.2L
1998 - 2000 Honda Accord 2.3L
1995 - 1997 Honda Accord 2.7L
Symptom: Unable to remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.
Problem: The crankshaft pulley bolt is extremely tight in the crankshaft. It can be very difficult to remove.
Test & Fix: The crankshaft pulley bolt has a normal right hand thread, not left hand thread. These engines rotate counterclockwise. This counterclockwise rotation makes the crankshaft pulley bolt even tighter. Often a 3/4" impact is needed. As a last resort, use a chain type pulley holder. Wrap the chain around the crankshaft pulley, and support the bar of the tool on the lower control arm. Then use a breaker bar with a pipe on it to get the bolt out. Honda has available a special crankshaft pulley holder which is applicable to the 1990-1993 models to use while removing the bolt.

I recently had the same problem with replacing my water pump on an Alfa Romeo. Part of the pump was behind the lower pulley and the impact wouldn't budge it.
So I had my son hold a 3/4 pry bar with the 1 1/2 socket on it and I bumped the starter. It broke it loose the first try.
While your at it you might replace the front seal.

"Why is the Governor of Alaska accomplishing state business enterprise on Yahoo? Did she not understand that webmail isn't deepest? there's a reason the state keeps its own server." Are you that ignorant? Any workstation gadget would be hacked in spite of the optimum protection. The state protecting information superhighway mail on a server does not mean that somebody ought to get entry to the gadget. In answer to the asker : specific - if Obama's e mail replace into hacked and revealed we would in no way pay attention the tip of it. i think of this may well be the 1st of many stuff that are carried out to purpose and tarnish Sarah's image.

when i have stubborn bolt that won't "break" with the impact, i use a breaker bar with a "cheater pipe" and keep even pressure , do not bounce on the leverage piece.
