Are you sure she's old enough? If you haven't had her very long she may not be. Many female bettas are some 3-4 months before they are really ready to breed.

You need to feed a varied diet to insure proper nutrition and feed a bit more often than normal. I feed twice a day. In the morning with Flake and in the evening with a special food, like bloodworms, daphnia or brine shrimp.

Be sure to keep your betta in nice clean water at a proper temperature. 76-80 F is a good range for growth and conditioning.

The white dot is just an ovipositor. If she's of age, she probably has egs already. Most females don't get really fat when they have eggs, the are just normal body shape. To keep her healthy have her in a heated, filtered tank and feed her a variety off food. Only bloodworms is a bad idea because its only protein and no other nutrients.

#1 Careful maintainance of water conditions(frequent changes). #2 Proper temperature. #3 A varied diet of live and prepared foods. #4 The white dot that signifes readiness to spawn will appear behind her ventral fin,not near her head.
