Are we going to take him at face value when he said he "misspoke"... Or will I hear about this for a month and a half like when John Kerry "misspoke" about the president??

Of course we won't hear anything more about it. He's a Republican. Now, if he was a Dem, then the Repubs would be all over it. I don't understand why the Repubs make such a big deal and the Dems don't, but if it really was a liberal media, wouldn't they focus more on McCain's misspeaking than Kerry's?

OMG - what is it with you divisive people!
I no longer trust McCain either after he started courting the "religious right" vote but he clearly misspoke.
Have you ever listened to Pres. Bush? If we had a dime every time he misspoke we would all be rich!

McCain clearly made a mistake. Just like I made a mistake when I voted for Pres. Bush the first election. I did not misspeak.

Perhaps the wasted loss of lives statement was a subconscious statement of the failure of the administration to do the right thing and plan for after the defeat of Saddam. The failure of the generals and secretary of defense to prepare for controlling Iraq did cause much of the deaths we incurred.

Yeah, really is there such a thing as free speech? Wasted or sacrificed, is there a big difference? The war is going to pot, he knows it, Obama knows it and finally the rest of America is cottoning on to the fact that we should never have invaded Iraq.

I'm getting tired of the Getcha Gotcha word game. No wonder all the really good people never want to seek public office. You can't speak without offending someone.

Interestingly if our side says or does something it is okay but if the other side says or does the same thing it is outrageous.

I think he meant just exactly what he said and he shouldn't apologize because it happens to be the truth.

He better not! The DNC already called him on it! What? The DNC? Isn't their whole platform that the troops lives are being wasted? But no, as a conservative, I don't want to see him get away with it any more than Obama.
