I think the better question is -- what was T-Mac smoking when he made this comment?
Do you honestly think the NBA is going to turn its star players loose in a city they deem to be dangerous? The league can't risk a player being hurt or killed (which is a reach) because of the location of the game.
Second of all, we're speculating on what is going to happen next year. And remember, there were, what, three shootings in Vegas over the All-Star break? No one complained about feeling unsafe there although no one wanted to walk the strip for fear of being mugged or shot.
As a whole, I think it's ridiculous that this was even brought up. If the NBA feels New Orleans is unsafe, they won't have the All-Star game there. And so much for the "let's rebuild America" mentality that ran rampant through the sports world directly after Katrina. The Saints played in New Orleans; a similar show of solidarity from the NBA would be welcomed.

there is not any reason to be scared to bypass to or return. super sections of the city are nevertheless devastated and few human beings stay there (Lakeview, Gentilly, decrease 9th Ward, NO East) so the areas look undesirable. many human beings assume that a close-by is risky because of the fact few homes are occupied, even yet it in basic terms seems that way and is a psychological undertaking. New Orleans is risky for people who're interior the unlawful drug company, particularly crack cocaine. even however, you do not likely could undertaking approximately it in any different case. in basic terms use undemanding experience and you would be high-quality.

If you stay to the main tourist areas, my guess is that you will be fine. Law enforcement is going to be out in full force in those areas. If you are thinking of heading off looking for a hooker or some crack, then you might run into a problem.
New Orleans is like any big city. If you are a moron, you can get hurt.

I was just in N.O. for my college baseball tournament...it was also during Mardi Gras. If they can manage to make in other big cities then there's no reason to be worried about N.O. Don't carry a wallet, cash in front pocket, lock the door when you leave, and don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine. It's not any worse than New York or L.A.
