give him a few years to see how he does in NASCAR. if he isnt successful, maybe just moderately successful, perhaps he can find a ride with a better race team than Ganassi. if not, he might consider going back to open-wheel racing. it all depends on how well he is able to adjust.

I think that if he wants to continue having a carrer then yeah he needs to go back to open wheel racing. Nascar isnt for him, for every story of a driver that has done good coming from open wheel into Nascar there are 4 stories of failure. I think he should come back unless he thinks he can win the Daytona 500 and become part of the legend with Andretti, and Foyt.

Well he could become an IRL driver, but he was never a full time driver in the sport before. He's talented and he knows what he can accomplish in open wheel racing, but I think he's ready for something new. My point is that if he wants to keep racing NASCAR then he should do that.

Montoya has been a good driver in F1 and has quite some victories in his belt.
His aim was to win an F1 world championship, but he never came near to win one.
Lets see how he does at NASCAR and then analyze.....cuz now its too early 2 say anything

as long as American open wheel is second rate (and it will be as long as the 2 are divided) there is no reason for a world class driver to go to either series, a once a year trip to Indy ? maybe, sure why not?, but to compete in the full series? ask bourdais how far that will take your career

Montoya was never an official IRL driver....he ran in the Indy 500 once and won, but that was it He was CART(Champ Car) and F1. If he wants to come to the IRL, I welcome him. I highly doubt he will though, maybe we'll see him in another 500.

I wouldn't even think of going back if I was him. Of course, this all depends on how he ends up doing in NASCAR. But, if he starts racking up top 10's and top 5's, the money associated with NASCAR is too good to pass up.

What the hell ... back to what, exactly? He was never an IRL driver in the first place. He was a Champ Car driver who was invited to the Indianapolis 500 once, won it, and never sat in one of those shitboxes ever again.
