No, you would still hear, "I have a boyfriend" they are LYING to you!
Step up your game and come at them with more confidence. If they tell you they have a boyfriend, ask them why they aren't engaged. That may open the gate to the "possibility" of a date, even if they are seeing someone.

you choose girls with a boyfriend to like because they are safer. If she is in a committed relationship, you have a good excuse to not take a risk of rejection and ask her out. :) :)
