My build a bear has white fur and it is starting to get dirty because I've probably had it for an yr so can I put it in the washer

I wash mine all the time. A suggestion I have is to put the bear in a pillowcase and tie it off with a shoe lace and then throw it in the machine on cold. It helps reduce the wear and tear on the bear from the spin cycle and such. My bears are still soft and fluffy. And remember, if your build a bear loses its fluffiness, you can take it back to the store workshop and they'll refluff it for free! Good luck and thanks for washing your stuffed animals. They can carry all sorts of dust and germs!

NO! Unless you bought Velvet Teddy or Velvet Puppy. If you do, their hair will get kind of flat and matted, and not nearly as soft. If you did buy a Velvet Teddy or Velvet Puppy, these can be washed. Instructions are on their tags, and it requires freezing the animal before washing it.

However, there is a specific cleaner meant for bears. This can be purchased at any Build-a-Bear and it costs $6. It works quite well.

Put it in the washer in the delicate cycle in cold water. Do not put it in the dryer to dry it. This will ruin the fur. Hang it by its ears to dry with clothespins to a clothes hanger for a day or two. When it's completely dry, tumble it in the dryer for a few minutes with no heat to fluff it out.

Most stuffed animals are "surface washable only" items, meaning you can not put it in the washer, especially if they have electronics in them that make them talk and/or move.

I found some instructions for "surface washing" online; it's in the sources. That should get your bear nice and clean. ^_^

I think so. But Im not sure. If I were you, I would go ask the people from the store you bought it from. Just to make sure.
