Is volunteering at an independent bookstore with a lip ring alright?
This type of piercing seems mainstream enough to me that no on would have a problem with it.
I could always switch to to a labret which is not as odd looking as a lip ring.

you should ask the bookstore you wanna volunteer at. there are of course many places where they dont like the people working for them with visible facial piercings, others dont mind. depends on the establishment and i guess the management. if they dont like the ring, ask if a switch to the labret would be acceptable... if its still a no, well then i guess thats your answer =\

I just wish this stupid fad would just disappear. All our young generation is bent on self mutilation. Do do the lip ring or the labret which I don't know about, but if it is mutilating your body, in any way shape or form, I am totally against it. Do you really think it is attractive whether you are male or female? Well I will tell you it is really disgusting and as I have told so many young people, the only people that should have pierced lips should be the natives of New Guinea. Do you think employers want to see young people with lip rings, labrets, nose rings? I don't think so. Forget this stupid fad and fast.

I am sorry to tell you this but the only mainstream piercings are ear piercings. I think that you should consult with the manager on what is appropriate dress code before you just wear it to work. Just because you are volunteering and not getting paid does not mean that you can wear what you want.

you are volunteering..if they turn you away, they are stupid. i think it's alright. can't you just take it out when you're working?
