The NBA tends to have alot of one-on-one action, whereas college actually uses certain offensive sets with alot of screens and set picks. Alot of what you see is probably the Flex offense or a variation of it, where pretty much every player is in motion. That makes it pretty hard to guard against. Another difference is that the college game is full-court, whereas the NBA is a strictly half-court game. When is the last time you saw an NBA team use a half court trap? I think that college players play with alot more emotion and pride than an NBA team does; they are all playing for one reason- make the NCAA tournament and try to win a national championship. Alot of NBA players seem like they could care less because hey, win or lose they're getting paid.
The NBA doesn't seem to put as much of a premium on defense as college basketball does. Part of this is because the offenses are more complex and players have to be able to move through a screen to get to the ball-handler. I think the college game is much more fun to watch because the players leave everything on the court, don't call out other players (i.e. Kobe-Shaq), and play with an emotion and pride that is lacking in the NBA.

With a 35 second clock the NCAA men have time to set up a motion offense that can be somewhat patient in getting a good shot. You don't see as many NCAA women's teams that employ a motion offense because their shot clock is shorter (30 seconds).
In the NBA you don't have the luxury of running a lot of time off the clock so you really can't run a motion offense. The NBA game boils down to a 2-on-2 game usually via a pick and roll because that's the easiest play to teach, the hardest to defend and allows for the quickest shot. Also, if you look at the teams that have had success in the past 25 years or so, ALL of them use the pick and roll (or some variation of it) as a primary offensive weapon.

The pace of college being fast has a lot to do with the talent that is on each team. Defenses tend to have lots of holes in NCAA as opposed to NBA for the simple reason that NBA is one-on-one like you said, and NCAA tends to have more zone defenses.
Also, turnovers are more prevalent in NCAA, which will definitely add to the fast pace. Fast breaks occur often and sometimes they miss lay-ups, which just causes a fast-break going the other way.
btw, zone defenses are played in NCAA because it is "easier" to play. Less mistakes happen with the inexperience of the college players when they play in zone.

college is more fast paced because opportunities to score come up during the fast break unlike in the NBA. In the NBA, even with a shorter shot clock, teams must create more plays to get past the defense. In college offenses have found that by running a fast paced offense defenses at the college level can't react as quickly

NCAA teams are young and they are able to play with more energy. In the NBA the players have a greater understanding of the game and in most cases try to find the best opportunity to score.

NBA players don't play defense.people may disagree but they need to understand the players are pro's not just for offensive ability but the defensive potential that they have and dont use.they have a set salary and as long as they put up 40+ a game they are fine.college players have much more to prove and try to show off the best of their abilities by doing anything they can to become a leader.and if that means quick, fast paced, passing games, then thats whats gonna happen

Is it? College has a 35 second shot clock compared to the NBA 24 sec. It might appear that way cuz they might be more reckless and TO the ball a lot.. But have you seen Princeton play? That is not fast pace..
