I understand what you're getting at with the question, I think. Yes, they are underrated. Not in the polls, but by all the tournament 'expert' prognosticators. When you hear the questions "Who will get a #1 seed" and "Who has the best chance to win it all", their answers all revolve around UCLA, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. Other than Jay Bilas, not many even mention Kansas.

This is a young team (5 of top 7 are freshmen and sophomores) that has really learned to play together. They are a team of stars who have completely bought into the teamwork mentality of Bill Self. Anybody who has any doubts has not seen them play since before Christmas. Their defense is stifling, their offense is potent, and their chemistry is unmatched.

Of course, people are going to bring up the first round departures in the tournament the past two years. Save your breath - that is completely irrelevant. Two years ago against Bucknell, it was a veteran team of Roy Williams holdovers that underachieved. Last year they were SO young going up against a veteran, feisty group in Bradley. No such worries this year, folks. Kansas IS the best team, and come early April, Bill Self will do what Roy Williams never could at Kansas, and that is win a national championship.

Yes, they are underrated - but not for long.

Being at the #3 position now, does not looked underrated to me. They are a different Kansas team from teams past. They are a prime example of a team that matured throughout one season. They had a bumpy start, and did not appear to be a "team" at all, but after going through some upsetting issues along the way, they have evolved into one of the most productive, well balanced team out there. They are able to pick up the slack for each other when someone is having an off night. The spark plugs on the team such as Collins and Rush keep things interesting, but when they are off for one reason or another, there are others that simply fill in and take up the slack. KS teams of past would have buckled against OU after being ranked #3 that day and finding themselves in a real battle without a lengthy, or comfortable lead. But not this team. Although they were not having a good night, they still found a way to win, and even without the help from their "spark plugs". They have much more excitement ahead of them, you will see others excel in ways not observed before, and will continue to gel even more into one good, solid, battling team. Nope, they are not underrated. Stay tuned...Rock Chalk!

Maybe. They are in a weak conference and their main rival is Missouri! They're not even that great of a team. Kansas has good talent and will probably be a #1 seed, with recent Florida & UNC losses. Their good, but I don't know how far I see them going. Their road to the NCAA Championship ended early the past 2 years. We'll see in the upcoming month.

I think they're underrated, but not in the polls. #3 in the nation is a good place to be sitting, but still no one mentions them when it comes to being a #1 Seed in the Tourney. Florida, Wisconsin, and UNC have all been on losing skids, as of late...and all of them are still being talked about as #1 Seeds. Kansas has won 10 of their last 11, their only loss in that time was to a VERY good Texas A&M team.

I think they were underrated early in the season, but I think they are getting the right amount a recognition as a team. There are some individual players that are underrated. (ie. Julian Wright, Sheron Collins)

No. Kansas is right where they should be. Kansas started the season with a #3 ranking and will end it with a #3 ranking. They are right where they need to be. I'm a KU fan myself. If this isn't their year, we'll have two more with brandon rush and the gang. Even after that we'll still have darrell arthur and sherron collins. Keep your eye on them next year.

underrated? try overrated...they have been hyped time and again since losing to texas a&m at home and for beating who? nebraska? iowa state? they have only played one legitimate team in that time, and that was kansas state, a team they struggled mightily to beat...commentators continue to get excited about their 40-point blowout victories and their great defense while playing the bottom of their conference
