I really think anybody worth worrying about wouldn't care about it at all. No body's perfect. You could check with a cosmetic surgeon to see if it could be removed, but I'm guessing there could be lots worse things in life.

How would you act if you didn't have the birthmark? Can you imagine acting that way... ever? If you looked EXACTLY the way you do now BUT no red mark... would everything be better? If you ever tried makeup, did it help? How did it make you feel? And... have you ever asked a girlfriend for a little helpful makeover?
If you can't keep friends... I don't think it has much to do with the birthmark. It may not be what's ON your head... maybe it's what's IN your head. Go to a hypnotist. Learn to act like a plain-ol' no birthmark kinda person. Learn to not blame your body for your personality. Improve YOU and, check out makeup if you want. Good luck.

I can relate. I have a scar on my forehead from being a 'forcept baby'. There are times that I really don't want to go out in public and other times it has no effect on me at all. But I know what it is like to have someone ask ALL THE TIME about what happened.
One thing I really want to say is, there is nothing wrong with you. I know that it sucks, but there are people out there that don't even notice after awhile. I know that sounds stupid, but they really don't. Trust me when I say, you think about the mark 100 times more than anyone else does. And now that you are going to college, it will be easier to make friends. They are not as judgemental there. It isn't high school anymore.
One thing to try, go to your doctor and talk to him/her about it. They will be able to determine what stems your anxiety/depression. It could be more than just your mark. Please look into that option. I would be happy to talk to you more about my experiances, if you want. Drop me a line...I just don't want to carry on for days like some people do on here.

I can relate, I have a HUGE mole on my forehead. People stare all the time, but usually only small children ask what it is. When they do ask out of curiosity, I just tell them plain and simple. When adults stare, or when someone is being rude about it, I turn to who ever is closest to me and ask (VERY loudly) if I have a booger hanging out of my nose or something. That usually gets the point across that I know they are staring, they come back to reality, and usually wind up way more embarrased than I ever have been. Be yourself, and you will make friends. Nobody is perfect, just there's the few of us that have our imperfections on the outside. ;)

Your panic attacks are not caused by the birthmark itself, but from you worrying what others around you are thinking about it.
Try to come up with a witty comeback for when people ask about it. If you can laugh at yourself others will laugh with you and you'll come out of your shyness shell.

Tell them that it is a scar from a gunshot wound to the head and make them feel bad for asking. Then tell them the truth. Get bitchy with them about it.
Or act like you don't know what they are talking about. And when they show you, freak out.

Look- as long as it doesn't start to move around to different places, don't worry about it. Accept it and move on. Have a good time.
