Narcolepsy is a disorder that is characterized by excessive sleepiness that also associates ti other REM-sleep phenomena like sleep paralysis, cataplexies, hallucinations. The step would be to see a sleep doctor and rule out sleep apnea or any other sleep disorder that could cause you not to have a good night sleep. If you do not have sleep apnea the sleep center will then do a sleep test the following day called a MSLT (multiple sleep latency test). This test demonstrates a your mean sleep latency and whether you have any sleep on-set REM periods. People with Narcolepsy stage REM invades other parts of sleep and wakefulness. If you are Narcoleptic or even have sleep apnea getting tested will improve your quality of life.

It sounds to me like you may have sleep apena. Thats when you wake up several times throughout the night without even realizing it and don't go through all the stages of sleep. Go to your doctor and they can send you for a sleep study then hook you up with a machine that will ensure you're getting plenty of oxygen. You'll feel better in no time. But see your doctor, doesn't sound like narcolepsy

You don't have symptoms of narcolepsy. Uhm, when your in a race and you suddenly just fall asleep for no apprent reason and your body lays on the track, you have narcolepsy. When you are reading abook, and youre laying in bed, falling asleep, you do not have narcolepsy.

do you sleep during the day while laying down, or do you randomly just drop to ground and sleep? if you are sleepy as opposed to randomly falling out, you could have sleep apnea or anemia.

You might. Or it might be that you aren't sleeping well at night. In either case, if you're worried, contact a sleep clinic. You might get more information that way.

Good luck!
