I think that maybe certain characteristics of MJ were definitely underrated and ignored. He didn't get paid for his on court abilities until late, and players, with so much less skill, make his salary look more and more feeble every year. I love what MJ did to most of the game except for maybe how he paved the way for athletes to become overpaid primadonnas. He earned his money and was even shorted. Today they work backwards, getting paid first and maybe putting forth some results. Still, MJ is and was the greatest just for that simple fact. It's no wonder we all hope for another like him.

Ok, nothing against MJ, but underrated? If anything, he's overrated. He was one of the best to ever play the game, yes. But the guy is widely known as THE best ever, and that won't likely change. But how can you possibly be underrated when people call up-and-coming stars "the next Michael Jordan"?

Michael Jordan's name is said in every conversation when the question: Who is the best basketball player of all time? is asked.
Jordan is not underrated because people still buy his shoes, and his autographed cards will be worth a fortune one day. He is an icon.

Are you obsessed with Jordan?

The world of sports is changing everyday and there will be a better basketball players more athletic than Michael Jordan, in the Future.

He's not underrated, but there will always be critics for every athlete ever. I am a huge MJ fan, and a huge Bulls fan, but I would not even say he is the greatest athlete ever. Ever hear of a man named Lance Armstrong. It takes such great endurance and heart to have cancer, and then go and win the Tour De France, 7 times.

I dont think MJ is underrated, he just over did it when he retired 3 times and ruined his rep by joining the WIzards. His stature as a player is by no means the best there ever was and ever will be. The hype of LaBron and Wade will never hold a candle to Air Jordan.

I dont beleive he is under rated because everybody aknowledges him as one of the greatest athtletes if not the greatest ever.
But i think eventually someone will be better. Just like when LeBron came onto the scene and everyone was saying he was gonna top MJ and i was like No way possible and he said yeah thats the same way everyone felt about Dr.J untill Michael Jordan came along

He is the greatest no doubt, but he's not without fault...

He should have never come back to play for the wizards, it tarnished his image with the younger generation that never saw him dunking from the top of the key with his tongue out...That I believe generated a lot of the haters.
