Art is the answer that humanity gives to our unsatisfied needs.

Art is...art is like your own mind. It has the bases and structures of what you have learned from others. yet at the same time, you are (as a good artist) putting in your own thought and expressions. In a way, it is to let people see your world but it's also to let others think and contemplate. You can interprete art differently (be it music or drawing), we each form our own opinion. So I guess you could say art is a way of opening our own minds.

Art is an expression of the deepest inner you. It expresses the passion from within. It is not necessarlily a form to get others to see things the way you do because the craftmanship belongs solely to you. However, sometimes the transmission can make a connection to the inner part of another. When you are able to get someone to pay attention to your "art" whether its through song, dance, poetry, written or spoken word, etc; that is when you know that your expression was worth expressing.

Art is in my opinion a form of action that is not required for survival. Art is one of the ways we are different from animals, no other creature uses energy to make "Art" just humans. And art only becomes a possibility when a culture has reached a stable enough point that its members can indulge in non-survival oriented tasks.

To me, a true work of art will appeal to everybody. Artists manipulate material - paint, watercolor, clay, wood, paper, music, words, anything their imagination focuses on - as a medium in order to speak to people. They communicate what they see to us by appealing to our senses and our emotions. Art is the voice of the artist baring his soul and ours. That's why it is sad or beautiful or disturbing. If we are stirred by a work, then it is truly art.

Briefly, I think art is an outward expression of your inner viewpoint or aspiration. It is a way to express your limitless imagination through your creativity. It is your imagination personified through your physical efforts.
