This is a great question. I do not believe that physical attributes and riches or lack thereof make a person any happier than anyone else. You spoke of Oprah rich, she has not had the easiest of lives, with abuse and neglect and struggles in her past, look at how many decades that she has fought with her weight as she was using food to cover up pain in her life; pain from her past that she really had to fight to deal with.
I know many poor people, or people who struggle every day to keep their bills paid and a roof over their heads; but they are some of the most joy filled and wonderful people on earth. I also know a few "rich" in money or material possessions who are the most unhappy and least trustful people, they are so scared of losing all their possessions, they have no true friends.
I prefer to live a happy life in a little house, that I can afford and value my family and friends beyond any material possessions. I love to share what little I have, and it brings me a lot of joy to do such things.
I have some former neighbors who won several million dollars in the lottery a few years ago, and ended up moving and practically living in hiding because of all the "cousins and old friends" that came out of the woodwork looking for handouts. They paid off a lot of their bills, but had to leave a home that they loved, just to get some peace and quiet. There were several people who filed lawsuits against them saying that they had fallen on their property...just trying to get "big" money.
I am a little overweight, but I am generally healthy and wake to each day thankful that I have another day to live and learn and share and enjoy. Have a good night.

I don't think anyone can be eternally happy. If we had the bodies we want now, once we had those bodies, we would find something else about it that we would want to change. As for money, there is never enough because the more money a person has, the more financial problems they encounter.

I don't think changing the body and not the inner body fixes all. If we woke up one day with the perfect body, rich and in perfect health we would still have our fears/worries that we have now, plus maybe more.

No,weight loss is not the answer to happiness,it comes from alot deeper within than that..Issues at hand can still exist & need to be dealt with..Some
physical issues may change for the better health wise enabling more activities & a brighter outlook on facing the day,but one has to face fears & issues willingly to deal with them, making life more at ease.

I'm overweight (but not obese). I drive an old car - and live in a rented duplex with mostly pressed particle board furniture - and I think I am INCREDIBLY BLESSED!!! I wake up everyday in a warm house - with running water - and there's food in the kitchen!!!
I don't live my life in a fear/worry kind of way.
If I were to wake up tomorrow and find myself thin and rich - I'd be ecstatic about the thin part - and then find ways to share the rich part.
I'm teaching "JOY" to my pre-schoolers this Sunday. It's my favorite virtue!

Feeling better about yourself would be a leg up, obviously. That's a serious plus. Unless you got hit by the ugly stick, too, along the way.
Rich is always a plus.
I think the better you feel on the inside, the better you feel on the outside, no matter what you look like, no matter what you have.
Skinny does not equal feeling good. Niether does being rich.

Well, I'm not overweight or even obese and I'm not truly happy. I think it depends on how you look at yourself. If you have a beautiful heart and you see yourself as beautiful despite your appearances...well first of all you should only have friends who treat you right and make you feel good about yourself. You should look past your appearance and focus on what you want out of life, how you want others to treat you, but you need to treat others the way they want to be treated as well, it goes both ways. You should focus on positive things rather than the negative.

So, are you asking: If I wasn't fat, sick, or poor, would I still have problems? Easy questions... different circumstances, different problems. The absolute best thing to do is... do something for somebody else. Volunteer. Community service. Read for the blind. Dog sit. Whatever. You can be fat, sick, or poor and STILL make somebody's world better. You'll feel better too. Maybe some of your problems may begin to look smaller too. Now... my butt... nope, still looks big. But I am happier. Good luck

I would have the same basic worries that I presently have. My worries concern the well being of my child and this world. It doesn't matter how rich or beautiful I would be...what's really important to me would not change.

I really think that I would have the same worries that I have now. If not worse. Trying to keep track off all that money and keep up those looks would be stressfull enough on me.
