In my opinion, a good film has characters you care about. I also like movies that have some of everything: drama, scary parts, comedy. My favorite is Raiders Of The Lost Ark. It has some of everything in it. Also unexpected things are good. Predictable is not so good.

A theater with:
No laughing Lunatics
No Annoying Young (13-15) teenagers who Can't Shut-Up and stop trying to act cool by ruining the movie...hey, I'm 14!
No babies who cry at everything
No Adults who cry at everything
No Kids who cheer at everything
No Cell phones
No Cell phones
No Ipods Zunes or Creative Zens blasted off all the way
No Cell phones, even if they're on silent but people try to show off their expensive ones anyway with the light ruining the affect!
A Cherry Slushie All theaters need this

One which makes you think - e.g. Crash.
Ones that you can't guess the storyline. There's nothing worse than watching a film and being able to guess the ending within 5 minutes! Mind you, I love the Rocky films and you know how THEY are going to end before you even enter the cinema.

A great plot ....... say....about Scottish football and it's inferiority to all countries except Swaziland... and how the mighty Jocks rise from the ashes to defeat New Zealand in the world cup final !!

for LOTR ROTK I drank 8 cans and did not move achievment or what though i did nearly pi ss myself when i stood up at the end.
