there was some showdown in a western, in which the protagonist drew so fast he shot a bullet INTO the barrel of his opponent and his opponent's gun exploded, burning his hand.

can you help me remember what film this is from?

In "Pale Rider", C.E., as "The Preacher", shot the pistol out of the hand of the mine owner's son, ruining his hand, but the bullet didn't go right down the barrel.
Can't remember seeing this particular trick, myself.

It sounds familiar. I want to say it was a Clint Eastwood western, but I'm not really sure.

i think it is one of them Dirty Harry movies with Clint Eastwood, if i remember correctly
