Get yourself a life and health insurance license and become an independent agent. Buy leads on the internet, call the people. Help them get much needed protection for their family. End up with a great home-based business, plenty of money and residual income.
If this is too much, buy a lawnmower and broom or start with MLM and spend all your time trying to recruit people and selling overpriced products.

It is difficult to start any business with only $1,000. Find something in which you are interested. Multi-level or direct sales is a possibility. Something such as Mary Kay, Arbon, Tupperware, or other similar type of products. Those can be started with very little capital investment. They will require your time, but some do very well.
