I have both, so I'd get both. However, I do know that if I died and no one found me right away, my cats would start chewing on me before my dogs would. You know that's why cats will sometimes stare at you...they're checking to see if you're still breathing...

You'd really have to know your own personallity really. Some people are "cat people" and some people are "dog people"; simply put they tend to be more comfortable with one or the other. Also has to depend on your lifestyle. Do you have time to give a dog the attention it needs, ie let out for bathroom, fed, watered, walked, played with....or is your lifestyle so busy that it would be easier to own a cat...simple litter box with fresh litter, bowl of food and water and a few cat toys...cats, for the most part are simpler to take care of and can offer you a great deal of affection and loyalty in the end.
In my house there are both, my boyfriend is a "dog person", I, however am a "cat person" and both of us seems to be okay with this.

I would totally go with a dog, but that is because I already have two cats. To decide, I would totally think about what requirements each would need, then figure out which one you would be able to meet the needs of best. Good Luck :)

Cats make better pets for apartment dwellers. Dogs make better pets for house dwellers. I do not have either a cat or a dog but I grew up with both a family cat and a family dog along with parakeets.

I would get a dog because I already have six dogs, and I am allergic to cats. And if I got a cat my dogs would kill it and rip it to shreds (yes, this has happened before).

I have two cats, and love them. Most of the people in my neighborhood have dogs though.

it depends on ur life style. If ur busy and have not much time i would say cat. If you have a good amount of time to spend with ur pet i would say dog. For me i would prefer cat.
