I'm all for it. I think women should be allowed the opportunity to play pro ball. I'm sure there are women out there who could put some of the best players to shame. Maybe thats what they are afraid of.

I think women and girls should be allowed to play baseball with boys and men. I also think that the first major US sport to have a woman on its top level roster as more than a publicity stunt will be Major League Baseball as a pitcher.

I think it should be allowed, and it is. The problem, however is that most girls and women do not have the arm strength to make those 126 foot throws from 3rd to 1st in time, or to hit the baseball hard enough to bat consistently, or to throw hard enough to be very effective pitchers. There are exceptions, of course. There was a girl who did exceptionally well in little-league ball as a pitcher. So, while it is allowed, it is uncommon because women and girls simply lack the necessary physical strength; that's why softball is on a smaller field.

This is just about the worst idea in the history of sports. Baseball is and always will be a man's sport. A woman could not hit a 100 mph fastball or throw one. It will never happen. Women should stick to softball. A couple of years ago Jenny Finch struck out some major league players and now wome think they are at mlb level. Also the MLB is the best baseball league in the world. They just can' compete against men.

I am surprised that hasn't happened yet. I think part of the reason is that softball has become a pretty big deal. We have done well in the Olympics- which will unfortunately end with Beijing in 2008. Maybe if softball becomes less appealing, you will see some girls and women try to break in. I think a few would be excellent pitchers.

I think anyone with the talent should be allowed to play. There aren't more than a handful of women who could compete at that level, but I see no good reason why they shouldn't get the chance to prove themselves. It's awfully easy for the ego-stroking guys above to say its impossible for a woman to compete when women aren't even given a chance.

I think it should be allowed. Softball is what they are allowed to play but i think they should get a chance to play mlb. i don't see why men get the opportunity but not women.

Girls should definitely be allowed, they have the same right as guys. And who wants to pitch underhand.

I dont know what the people above me are smoking but this is a terrible idea.
Do you really think a female could hit a fastball thrown by a male consistently?
