Okay, well obviously the most reliable way of not getting pregnant is to not have sex.
However, if you are going to be having sex, your best bet is to take the birth control pill AND use a condom. Do not use two condoms at once, the friction between the two can actually create tiny holes, allowing sperm to get through. Make sure you take the pill regularly, it's effectiveness is lowered greatly if you take it irregularly.
Speak with your doctor about all of these options, and if you don't feel comfortable speaking with your doctor, you can call or visit a local Planned Parenthood and they can help educate you on all of your options. Abstenance. Otherwise be on the pill and use a condom. Its better to be safe than sorry. The pill has a 99% effective rate if taken at the same time of day every day. If you not used perfectly its actually only 92% effective. IUD, the shot, and the ring are also 99% effective. Condoms are 97% effective if used perfectly, but actually are only 85% effective. If you use both than you will reduce the failure rates!

The most sure fire way of NOT getting pregnant..is ABSTINENCE.
in other words..not doing it.
Birth control methods are available, such as oral contraceptives, depot shots, condoms[male/female].
