Maybe Janeway? or perhaps the black guy from Deep Space 9 (I forgot his name).

Their styles are so very different it is almost unfair to compare them. Picard was so much smarter and a better diplomat. Kirk was the ultimate cowboy. Picard had a much larger and more diverse supporting cast than Kirk. But Kirk was the trailblazer out there and so he would be top dog but by the slimmest of margins. Never forget that Picard took one through the heart and laughed about it, survived the Borg, and lived almost an entire second lifetime. But Kirk, man, he did what had to be done and he did it his way. My God, I love Star Trek...I love it so!

Since you forgot Captain Sisko from Deep Space Nine, he really was not that good.

Not really a fair question as both from different times. However, as far as Captains, I would have to go with Captain Kirk.

He was great with the ladies. He also always went on away missions (this was no fault of Captain Picard).

As for the Prime Directive, Kirk would use it but in his own way. Sometimes, this got him in trouble but he was willing to take a chance.

As for acting abilities, I would go with Picard. English actor and all. But in the humanities, I would go with Kirk as he cared more about his crew and ship than himself. Picard was also like this but not as much.

In a battle, I would go with Kirk just for his ability to win the impossible battles. He also hated to lose. Picard, while also a good commander,r did not have the same ability.

I would vote for Captain James T Kirk but for acting Jean Luc Picard.

Yeah James Kirk was the original captain of The Enterprise and had a way with seducing women of alien races, but Picard was more professional and took his position more seriously. Overall, I like both .

I watched all the original Star Treks when I was a kid. But Captian Jean Luc Picard rocks! He was so much better than Kirk!

Captain James Tiberius Kirk...

For me it was Jean Luc -- Kirk was too much of a womanizer and off the cuff type of guy. I think it could depend if you're male or female.
BTW: Avery Brooks played Commander/Captain Benjamin Sisko on Deep Space.

Jean Luc - much more intelligent, had a better relationship with his crew and much smoother than Kirk. Kirk spent too much time hopping between the sheets with whoever or whatever female life form was on that episode.

Jean-Luc Picard was the best.

William Shatner can't act.

Are you kidding me? No one is better than Kirk. He was the original and very very rarely can you top an original. Kirk was a ladys man and a fighter. Its takes a real man to make it with a green chick haha. Peace out................
