At that time, G.H.W Bush only appointed two justices to the court. Clinton appointed two, Reagan three, and Ford and Nixon one each.
The Supreme Court stepped in and handed down a ruling for expediency. Law suites had been filed in the state of Florida and understanding the time it would have taken for all the appeals to wind there way through our legal system to eventually end up in the court anyway the court acted.

Only 2 Justices on the current Court:

David Souter and Clarence Thomas

Were appointed by Bush Senior.

2 more by Clinton, 2 by Regan, 1 by Ford, and 2 by Bush Jr.

So, Bush Senior did not "assign" the Court that decided the case.

1) We're not a democracy, we're a Republic
2) The Supreme Court is the final say in all things Constitutional, as it stands. They simply ruled the count stood.
3) Kind of a moot point now, don't cha thing?

Hypthothetically speaking, don't you think if there was something illegal or improper about the way the Supreme Court handled the issue, the Democrats would STILL be trying to appeal the decision after all this time?

It's not like they haven't got the resources.

Bush Sr. only appointed 2 (Souter, Thomas). The same number that Clinton appointed (Ginsburg, Breyer).
