The Nazis were very similar to modern day Democrats.

The Nazis were socialists- like most Democrats.
The Nazis supported euthanasia. Democrats and their judicial operatives support euthanasia, even when it's against the family's wishes.
The Nazis supported human experiments by doctors and scientists. Now, Democrats in America have nothing but contempt for people who see ethical problems in human embryo experimentation.
Nazis supported eugenics in the hope of "breeding a better race." Democrats have resisted efforts in Congress to control cloning and genetic engineering, which will ultimately be tried on people by scientists who see themselves as above ethical dilemmas.

The Nazis supported gun control. So do most Democrats.
The Nazis supported abortion. So do most Democrats.
The Nazis were masters of propaganda and controlled the media. Democrats control the mass media.

Hitler came to power by turning the working class, unemployed, and academic elite against the conservative republic. After Der Fuhrer's election ceased being a political conspiracy and was transformed into a fashionable social phenomenon, party membership was especially popular with educators, bureaucrats, and the press.
Again, the Democratic party sounds amazingly like the Nazi Party, doesn't it? The elitists love to gather around the Democrats, just like they did around the Nazis.

I have to hand it to those answering this question... many seem to know absolutely nothing about nazis or democrats... impressive... yet ramble on as if they have a clue?

well... nationalism... seems very Republican... defense of the state and patriotism... sound familiar...

and demonizing a certain group... Hitler's jews are today's terrorists... the group they must destroy or they will surely die...

and of course, the constant demonization of liberals and how evil they are... it's almost cliche...

there are some similarities to some policies the nazis did to democratic policies... but no one hates the nazis because they wanted to ban smoking... or provide public health care...

we despise them due to the atrocities they committed and how they were able to commit those atrocities...

doing things like keeping people in camps without a fair trial... (guantanmo)... things that are fundamentally un-American... and how they defend those actions (for the good of the nation against an immanent threat)...

and Hitler used religion and Christianity...passion plays were constant and helped blame the jews for the ills of society... does any policial group we have now cater to Christianity?

raising taxes to fund government programs is common thinking among a lot a democrats, kind of similar to Nazi fascism of government control of most things. The left also wants to dictate what you eat ,smoke, and even drive(global warming THEORY), Hitler had that similar power , also removing religion from society is similar. Now republicans seem to push nationalism to the point i wanna puke( bush saying mother land also reminds me of Nazis saying hinder land), gays probably rather have a Democrat in office i bet, not sure but i think Nazis killed ya if you were. Nazis invaded Russia which it under estimated, the Republican party i think thought Iraq might be like Afghanistan victory(militarily) but i think social Democrats in theory is close to socialism and that's to close to fascism in my opinion:)
