Why do you ask?

If you are asking if it is important to have the physical diploma with you when applying the answer is no. If you are asking if it is important to have graduated from high school the answer is yes, and these days it is even more important to have graduated from college.

You do not need to take proof of graduation with you unless/until it is requested. Most companies don't request proof, as most large companies use outside agencies to do background checks and can get this information from them.

Not important if you want to do manual labor. Of course, they might think that if you didn't have the ability to get through high school, you may have trouble finishing up cleaning the stables. You may drop out at any time. You better get a diploma. At least you can spell and form a proper sentence.
