Bad news sells and thats all the media wants to report. No truth in the news , no news in the truth.

It is good that people know about the things the government does in our names & it is good when we protest actions that are not in accordance with what America stands for, justice, freedom, right to protest etc.
We are not China! China is an independent nation, we can only protest the things they do to the UN. Although we may dislike the things that China does, it is one heck of a lot better today than when it was run by a emperor! It is still not a democracy, but the Chinese people have never lived under a democracy. It they want it they must get it on their own! We can't give it to them!

One reason is we let them look. I don't recall that the Red Cross or other internationally neutral party gets to tramp through and interview detainees in China or other countries prisons that have a low value for human rights.

We're easy to pick on and we don't put you in prison for doing so. (Unless you make a direct death threat on the prez, then the Secret Service steps in, but what would you expect?)

And yes, we should be setting an example. But after reading about what so many of our P.O.W.'s have been through it is very hard for me to relate how a GITMO prisoner would be "tortured" because they were exposed to female guards or maybe were naked in front of a female guard - Oh the Horror of It!

I would not be in favor of drilling teeth or shoving bamboo shoots under the fingernails to get info, but if we psyched them into "thinking" they were going to be electrocuted if they didn't talk, then so be it. War is ugly.

So you say it is ok to torture people because China does it? When are we going to start beheading people, and making movies of it. When do we cross the line and become them? In an answer to your question if we do not give the prisoners rights because they are not citizens we owe them as fellow human beings at least human rights and if we choose to ignore those human rights then we have become the ideals that we are fighting against. We have become them. Sad to think that there are Americans that want to be them.

Because the world holds us to a higher moral standard. Thats fine but shouldn't all developed countries be held to the same standard? I guess not since we are the big boy on the block.

Because the United States holds itself out to be the light of freedom and democracy in the world. And while that is noble, it also comes with added responsibility and expectations.

China on the other hand, never professes to be much of anything positive and therefore no one expects much of them.

Club Gitmo is a joke. The prisoners should be tortured daily, with a smile on our faces. I think the one thing libs are overlooking is that in order for a human rights violation to occur...they have to occur on a human...I am not sure they qualify.

Hey do you know one thing 'bout human's psychology....They always tend to find out the wrong things in someone..Whatever good it may offer, they overlook...they look out only for the bad things no matter even if its minuscule...

Simple they know we are doing the right thing.
So you always pick on the one who is doing the right thing.
Case in point Jesus was perfect and He wound up nail to a tree for it.
