Check with HP and find out if you can add a pci video card.
HP used to use a lot of non-standard components so check it out first. There are a lot of excellent video cards available now depends on if you want them for games or ? Get one with as much ddr memory as you can afford.

If you are looking to build a gaming machine read on. 300 watts isn't much these days - you should probably get 450 to 550 wats.

As well as the wattage, you need to pay attention to the Amps required by the GPU too.

I run an XFX 7900GTX XXX and that needs 22A on the 12v rail. There's not a lot of PSU's out there ( or there wasn't 6 months ago ) that can supply that.

300W power supply is poor. Many new G.Cards want you to have 400W or more for the total system. And 400 is steal on the border side!

Why are you changing your video card? Your CPU may need to be looked at, you have a system, not a one piece item.

i have a hp pavilion with a 300watt power supply,i'm run a nvidia 7600gt it runs great, but it does say the minimum requirement are 350watts. that would probably be the best you could get out of it
