If the piece was really small, then she should be fine, but I would call the doc's office first thing in the morning and speak to a doctor or a nurse, just for peace of mind. Babies are tough, though, I heard about babies eating things like their own poop, and they were fine.

Meanwhile, give her plain yogurt to eat, as much of it as she will take. It will coat her stomach and help digestive system deal with it. It's got live bacteria that will protect her stomach from harm and restore the natural fauna.

CALL POISON CONTROL!! Have the bottle with you and take it with you if you are advised to see a doctor. Do NOT listen to all these home remedies. No matter what your child has eaten if it is not food call poison control. You did not state what type or brand or anything that could lead even a very educated person to judge your little girls safety or health. Give your child nothing until advised to by either poison control or a doctor. You need a very educated person right now, call them. Only qualified health professionals with a full understanding of your child's health history should be giving you any other advice.

"A small piece" is subjective. Was that like a tiny dot? Was it as big as a dime? A quarter?

Odds are she didn't ingest enough to hurt her, but it might make her sick.

To be on the safe side, I echo what everyone else said about calling the poison control center. Be sure to have the brand name handy or even the deodorant itself to answer any questions they may have about it.

If nothing else, calling will set your mind at ease.

As almost everyone said, call poison control. Syrup of ipecac is not recommended. Some chemicals shouldn't be vomited back up. Poison control will ask questions. They wll tell you if she needs to be seen. Probably not, but err on the safe side.

Everyone is right - call poison control to make sure.
From Pediatrics for Parents, 1991: "While our mental images of poisonous substances are often marked with skulls and crossbones, over 70% of poisonings reported in poison control centers involve substances used daily in most households: Cosmetics and personal hygiene items such as deodorant, lotions, and mouthwash; cleaning formulas such as ammonia, disinfectants, dishwasher detergents, and drain or oven cleaners; insecticides, pesticides, and rat poison; prescription and over-the-counter drugs; and plants, both inside and outside the house."
And check this out: might make you feel better...

Hi!
My two year old son has put many-a-thing in his mouth and has always been fine... NEVERTHELESS, I called the doctor everytime just to check and make sure! It's free to call, that's what the doctors are there for (the answering service will call the doc and tell him to call you if it is after hours), and the peace of mind it gives you to know your baby will be okay is well worth it. I'd say call the doctor... and give your poor baby water! Her little tongue is probably way dry!
Good luck

I JUST NOTICED CARRIE C TOLD YOU TO GIVE HER IPECAC SYRUP.... DO NOT!!!!! IPECAC IS VERY DANGEROUS EVEN FOR ADULTS AND CAN CAUSE DEATH THE VERY FIRST USAGE. SHAME ON YOU CARRIE FOR RECOMENDING SOMETHING THAT DANGEROUS WITHOUT DOING YOUR HOMEWORK.

Let her poop it out. Give her apple sauce, or milk. My daughter ate a whole tube of chapstick and a penny at that age. I was so nervous and ready to take her to the emergency room, but just as she was finshing her milk she took a poop and everything came out.

Children have eaten far worse than that and survived.

Perhaps you should call a doctor, your doctors answerphone will give you the number of an out of hours practice that you can phone.
