I'm thinking Christina Ricci, because she plays a nympho is her latest movie and has also done a lesbian role, or Kate Winslet, for the movie where she peed onscreen...all those things are pretty unconventional.

Sorry, my pick would be Catherine Hepburn. I can't believe she lived with her married co-star for many years, he died in her apartment, she went to the funeral and his wife said; I thought you were a rumor. Gutsy lady.
