I am going to put a new transmission in my car, and i'm also going to put in a cooler. Should i still go thru the cooler on the radiator, or just strait to the new cooler? It's a 1989 Thunderbird with an AOD, and i'm putting in a rebuilt AOD.

Its not a supercoupe. And the radiotor is ok, but ive heard alot of bad things about AOD's and overheating, especially in t-birds. I thunk thta is what happened to the one that i'm taking out.

As the directions will tell you, they can be set up either way. Most people set one up so that the "pressure" tube remains attached to the radiator as always, then disconnect the return line to the new cooler, and the outlet from that cooler back to the return tube to the transmission. That way the radiator takes some of the heat out, and the new/secondary cooler finishes cooling.

running it through the radiator will help cool it a little and remember to use a cleaner through the tranny lines to clean out the crap that is still in the lines so it dosent get in your rebuilt trans! Good Luck

why a cooler? They are commonly used on trucks for towing. If you feel the need for a cooler then your radiator may not be doing it's job. The supercharger could be next to go. You failed to mention if it is:
w/o supercharger
w/supercharger, MT
w/supercharger, AT
