I actually just judged 8th grade cheerleading tryouts today. Our judging sheet had 10 catagories
1. smile
2. voice (clarity and loudness)
3. sharpness
4. spirit
5. memory of cheers and dance
6. tumbling
7. enthusism
8. eye contact
9. timing
10. confidence

It is really important to smile the whole time, keep your arms really sharp, have a lot of energy, straight legs in all of your jumps and leaps, and always lift your upper body. Make sure that if you are cheering that you have a clear loud voice and if you mess up or forget the words smile, do something your good at, and just say Go Team. The judges will be more impressed if you recover like this than making a face and apologizing.
The girls that stuck out to me in a bad way were the girls who were sloppy, didnt smile, and made no eye contact.
The girls who stuck out in a good way had tons of energy, made eye contact, and kept there arms very sharp.
There were girls who messed up and could not tumble who made it because they had confidence and performed everything with a smile and good posture. GOOD LUCK!

i'm Blue - Eiffel sixty 5 Hit Me Up - Gia Farrell Everytime We touch - Cascada i don't Dance - intense college Musical 2 i don't Wanna Be In Love - good Charlotte Potetial wreck up track - Aly & AJ it fairly is On - great Chick White Shadows - Coldplay do not stop the track - Rihanna lots of those songs sound slow yet you are able to velocity them by potential of counting in and's like a million - & - 2- & - 3 - &- etc. each and every count style and And's are a count style and function a separate pass. Counting like this retains dance strikes with the pace and additionally will advance the quantity of strikes you're able to do in an 8-count style.

omg I'm in 8th grade! I've been a cheerleader for 8 years so I know what I'm talking about! The judges will look at your personality, your cheer skills, your dancing, your toetouches, your flexibility, and depending where you go, your tumbling. At try-outs, look cute! come with a smile and dont be nervous because if you are it will show! Good luck! I sooo hope you make it!
