Sure. Just plug in a cheap optical mouse ($10) and keep your hands off the touchpad. You can even disable the touchpad.

Yes. A purchase of a decent PS/2 or USB mouse will eliminate the need for the touchpad.

If you have a USB mouse, or a PS/2 Port on your laptop, then you can use that as your pointing device.

If you do use a connected mouse, it's best to disable your touchpad, since they'd both be conflicting and trying to override one another.

Usually....

I am using a laptop with a USB mouse. This laptop has a port for a PS2 mouse also.

Depends on your laptop. Some do not have the PS2 ports. practically all have the USB port now, so you SHOULD be able to get a mouse that works

per chance the driver were given corrupted by yet another report. verify interior the settings (likely administration panel) and make positive the mouse did not turn it off. Then i'd try "equipment restore" or downloading a clean driver and installation from the computer mfr's internet web site.

Yah, I'm on a laptop, I'm not using a mouse but it will work, we've had it. I don't exactly know how, but that's beyond the point, anyway, GOOD LUCK!
