I had my membranes stripped with my daughter and i was in the first stages of labor 4 hours later. I had some bloody show and had already lost my mucus plug and was fingertip dilated when they stripped them. Yes it hurt to me it felt like the midwife was trying to pull my cervix out but it lasted only a few minutes. I had my daughter the next afternoon!
good luck i know how frustrating the last days of pregnancy can be!

I had mine stripped when I was dilated to 3 and in labor. I had labored all day. It was uncomfortable but it didn't hurt. It felt like he was doing a really long cervix check. I didn't bleed. It worked very nicely, though. I delivered a healthy baby girl less than 2 hours later, no need for pitocin! It's also a TON safer than any other things done to encourage labor. :)

I've heard of women having this done multiple times and it didn't help at all. Your baby will be here soon. I know it's hard to wait! I had all four overdue babies- earliest was one day overdue, and two different babies were NINE!

I had mine stripped w/ my last pregnancy. I had mild bloody d/c. It did hurt like he** to get it done, and unfortunately did nothing to kick start my labor. My ob told me to have sex. The sperm contain prostigandins which is what softens the cervix.
