Tell him not to fight this person at all, this could lead to him and the annoying kid to get in serious trouble at school or with their parents.

How about "manning up" and telling him NOT to fight. There are many other, much more creative and positive ways of settling differences. Beating up each other isn't one of them.
When your friend gets a little older (or wiser, which doesn't have to be age-related!), he'll realize that whatever annoys him about a particular person is often a MAJOR CLUE to something in his own personality that he needs to look at. (For example, is the kid annoying because your friend thinks he's a real geek? Maybe your friend is afraid of his own "hidden" geekiness...)The more your friend deals with his own stuff, the less he'll be annoyed at others.

tell him to keep his guard on. be careful of the rabbit punch. this combo provides an advantage if properly executed... leap attack of right foot to the stomach then uppercut...

or better yet advice him not to enter the fight...it would be better, you know..
