I checked the febreze website they do not recommend it on fur.

That's really tough. Air would be a good choice, letting it gets lots of fresh air. I know lemon juice will get the smell out of hair, fur is no different except it is dead and can replace any of the oils that have been stripped. I would probably go with hanging it on a clothesline in front of an open window (or outside of it is not snowing etc) and let it air out, that's going to protect it the best.

I have a product from Unilever. "all" fabric refresher. The label reads safe on all fabrics but to test a small inconspicuous area first. It does say to not use on leather, I interpret this to be leather furniture, clothing etc. not necessarily fur. No web site on the label but a toll free #1-800-298-2408 for questions.

1. You might want to put a dish of baking soda in the closet with it. Or consider boiling some water with baking soda.
Baking soda absorbs smells.

2. Put it on the porch or in an open air room and literally "air" it out.
