I am painting pictures with the main subject of motorcycles. You can view them at www.apassion2paint.com . How can I promote them and start getting sales?
I plan on traveling to motorcycle rallies. I have a website/merchant store, I am sending out emails, trying not to spam though.
Please let me know of some great ideas, maybe some you have already tried which have worked!

Actually, you're doing most of what I was going to suggest. Particularly the motorcycle rallies sounds like a good idea. Make sure that you also have plenty of business cards for the rallies. If you have a booth there make sure your business cards are out in the open so people don't have to ask you for your card; they can just take one. You might also stop into your local (if you have any) motorcycle shops and see if they might take a couple pieces on consignment for you.

If your art is of an illustrative style, or you can pull it off, you might contact some of the motorcycle magazines and see if they need some artwork. It'll probably be small illustrations to begin with and it likely wont pay much but if you're persistent with it you could end up illustrating larger work for them. You might even work out a deal where you give them a couple illustrations in return for an ad in their classifieds section rather than being paid money since, like I said, they're probably not going to pay much to begin with. This way you get advertising you need and they get illustrations they can use.

Since you're paintings are of motorcycles and you'll be dealing with people who enjoy motorcycles you could also think about taking up airbrushing and offering custom paint jobs on people's helmets and motorcycles. Since you're already skilled in art it shouldn't be too difficult to pick up with a couple books, maybe a few DVDs and a lesson or two.

Whatever you decide, good luck with it!

aside from the steps you are already taking, you could also ask to hang them in your local Starbucks or other coffee shops, if people like them, they will buy them and you get the money from it, but the coffee shop gets a small portion because they displayed it for you.

Hope that helps!

Make a webpage and then put your artwork on it...Then, make sure it is searchable...If you are trying to sell it, make that clear on the page...Give a price, etc...
