They'll either make you lay down or stand up.. I've had them do both. They'll swab you up with alcohol to sterilize and HOPEFULLY they'll get gloves and sterile equipment! Then they'll get clamps and clamp your belly button to where they can stick it through. They'll have a curved 14 gauge needle and they'll stick it through really fast and they'll kind of have your belly button ring attached to that one so that it will pull through more easily when pulling out the needle. Then they'll screw the ball on or put the ball in a hoop, depending on which type of jewelry you get. They should probably put a hoop in because it's doesn't restrict swelling which is just a natural part of the healing process. They should give you care information before you leave. It hurts, of course, it's a freaking huge needle going through your flesh. If it didn't hurt us then I don't think humans would've made it this far.. But it's worth it. It's pain for just a few seconds.. it's a rush! But it will look so cute!

I got my belly button pierced two days ago. I live in Texas, and there's a tattoo shop called Fine Line here. All the girl did was clean it and mark it while I was standing. Then she told me to lay down on a bed, and she clamped my belly button so she could pierce it. She told me to breathe in, then out, and as I breathed out she pierced it. Then she followed the needle with the ring. I'm not gonna lie, it did hurt. But it's nothing to stress out about. It stopped hurting as quickly as it began. I'm a little bit sore today, but so far it's been well worth it.

I got it done at "new generation tatoo" somewhere in springfeild, you probly don't care, but yea, A tatoo shop, and I didn't watch, but they clean it, make a dot, make you sit down and lay back, and I closed my eyes the rest of the time, but I didn't think it hurt taht bad... like, you could defiantly tell when it went through, but I didn't even flinch, but you could feel it, but it wasn't like a pain, but afterwards it does sting, and they don't all bleed, mine did, but my sister's didn't, but then it's all over and they give you a bottle of stuff to clean it {hibicleanse} or something like that, and then it's over! lol, and they explian stuff, like rules and all that, and It was very cheap! lol, it costed 30 some dollars for me and mysister, and we got it periced, cleaner, and the starter ring thing, so it was a very good deal, but yea, If you want it done, go for it! I love mine! lol, but if you have P.E, don't do crutches the first day or the day after you get it peirced... it hurts! lol

You should go for it! I got mine done on my 17th birthday. They use a hollow needle first (usually 14g) and peirce it them put the ring in. It's a little painful but they spray anisceptic on directly afterward so it doesnt hurt too much. And they're hot...

They will clean it, mark it, clamp it, and use a stantard 14g needle (or your choice of jewelry size) and follow the needle through with the jewelry. Everyone will feel pain differently.

Hope this helps
