Just liek others are ready to move out at 18 and others need into their 20's- we all mature at different rates. Society tells us boys should like girls and girls should like boys, so people that do knoe have a good picture of whi they are conform to what society tells them. After they go out and define who they are they realize there is more out there then they thought an start to "experiment" with those feelings. I have MANY friends that life "striaght" lives o the outside but really like to "excitment" that something different gives them- Like a new High!
Get in touch with that freind you were thinking of.... literally- IN TOUCH! =o) XOXOXO

Sexuality doesn't really enter our minds until puberty at the earliest. Before that we follow norms and societal expectations. And even in puberty we all kind of just follow our urges and what "feels good" more than what our hearts say (such as my partners nephew who's "bi" but only because he'll get off with anyone, not that he loves either particular gender). As we mature we realize our orientation has more to do with who we love versus who we sleep with. I'm now in my early 20s and realize I'm not a lesbian because I sleep with women - I'm a lesbian because I'm in love with my wonderful partner who just happens to be a woman :)

For some people, the "option" of being non-straight is a non-option. They were raised in a specific way, and weren't exposed to things their parents didn't want them to see, so there was no name for what they were feeling. It's only later, when they've experienced life without the blinders on that they realize who they are.

I would like to know how people can't know they're gay until late in life. Even if the person isn't exposed to it, he or she should know what or whom he or she wants. It's just weird to not no know. I am a woman and have always known that I like guys. I never doublted my sexuality. I don't like watch gay porn, so I certainly want to live the life.

if you like someone with your own sex that does not mean that you're gay. that that girl that you were talking about, maybe just miss her.. missing someone does not make you gay.. the question you need to ask to yourself is that, would you rather be with a man or with a woman for the rest of your life???
