when i turn it on it shows a screen with a yellow cross in the middle.

Try safe mode (Press F8 while opening the computer)

Try searching the net for a free download of a free trial version of Norton Anti Virus 2007. Once it is installed run a full scan of your computer and it should find the virus and remove it then your laptop won't be doing that any more.

type in mbsa in google and find this program. it will check your computer to see if anything is wrong with your system and also try shield up it will tell you if you computer is been protected when you go on line. if that doesn't help try spyware or spydoctor the one with a pic of a duck. that will tell you how many cookie you have in you pc and what is the risk. they might help you fix some of the problem if you have virus otherwise you will have to paid for it. hope this help.

if you pass the test you pc is safe if not you will have to fix it.
