I cannot figure out who Kenshin's toughest openet is.
I personaly say it would be Enishi.
But then you've got Shishio
And that Amakusa Shougo guy.
And you got Saito Sojiro and Aoshi.

Philosophically, I'd say "His past". Which also would lead me to Enishi. Enishi was the only one the beat the Hiten Mitsurugi technique. So I say he was toughest opponent for him.

I'm going with Shishio why because Kenshin only won because of Shishio handicap. Also, remember Shishio was the successor to the title of Battousai, and took up Kenshin duty after he gave up killing,etc.
