I am currently teaching myself how to play guitar. Will Banjo be easy when I master guitar?

PS. Does anyone know any good books for me on guitar? I am just starting out. I've played piano and xylophone so I know how to read music, but I have NO CLUE how to play guitar. All I can play is smoke on the water! I REALLY NEED HELP!

well, i never tried banjo myself but I do play electric and bass guitar, and Im sure they will help a lot. I never "learned" how to play from anybody, I just picked up a guitar and taught myself. I think thats actually helpful because playing seems more like a fun hobby rather than that feeling that your doing work that you get when your told to work on one specific song by a teacher. of course I played viola before any of that stuff for a few years, so I was already good at fingerings.

my advice is to just practice fingering, scales will help tons, even though they are boring as hell. practice a whole lot, and you will get it eventually.
